Professor Dieter Euler
Curriculum consultant for Immersion Baie-des-Chaleurs European born, Dieter Euler came to Canada at a young age and learned English the true "immersion" way. He had wanted to be a teacher since Grade 4, and now had found his calling: a language teacher. Subsequently he studied French, Spanish, German, Latin and Russian. He then went on to specialize in French, and to do his grad studies in Paris, France.
During his high school teaching career, he started co-authoring texts, inventing new language learning and teaching strategies, refining reading, comprehension and communicative techniques, and presenting workshops across Canada.
Some of his accomplishments and career events are:
- authoring the French Correspondence program for the Ontario Ministry of Education
- being a university lecturer and professor of German, Spanish and French pedagogy
- presenting coast-to-coast seminars on language teaching and learning
- reviewing language texts
- writing short stories
- being a Co-ordinator for all the Canadian Military Schools in Europe
- having lived and worked in Europe for several years
- organizing school exchanges with Quebec and France
- leading student trips to various countries, as well as Quebec
- being an interpreter for Cuban schools
- being co-organizer U of Waterloo Provincial French Contest
- training student teachers
- giving "crash courses" in German to computer executives
- being a Supervisor and Consultant to a Board of Education for their International Language Program, consisting of 26 different languages
His big passion and expertise are curriculum and program writing, and the psycho-linguistic aspects of language learning ...
... and then there is BBQing, and eating and traveling and partying and vacationing - just to mention a few other fun items!!!
