The team at Immersion Baie-des-Chaleurs looks after the details. We answer any questions the group leaders have dealing with lessons, activities, testing, cultural activities, car rental, special requests and every aspect of the immersion. We are also there to help all participants in host family selection, tourist information and personal requests, however big or small, in an effort to make your three weeks in the Baie-des-Chaleurs a wonderful experience.

Rachèle Leblanc

I have a bachelor degree in International Political Sciences and, until now, I have worked in public relations. The few trips I had the good fortune to make gave me the opportunity to meet people from all over the world and discover splendid countries. It all began with two English immersions in Ontario and Victoria Island Canada.

After my academic studies, I lived in Europe and worked in Provence, south of France, for two years.

 

I decided to join Immersion Baie-des-Chaleurs this year because this great project allowed me to come back in  my hometown, where the quality of life is exceptional, the nature gorgeous and the people friendly.

 

Winter and summer, Baie-des-Chaleurs is the ideal place for outdoor sports.  Sea, mountains and great areas! Should there be more to ask? Our life here is peaceful, far from traffic jam, pollution or the stresses of the city.

 

With our team, you will discover and love the Gaspé Peninsula and its breathtaking sceneries. With Immersion Baie-des-Chaleurs, you won’t just improve your French but you will have fun!

 

France Bujold

Over the past 19 years, I have enjoyed teaching French as a Second Language. My years teaching at both primary and secondary levels, up to secondary 5, have given me a variety of experiences, and I know that I have learned a lot myself along the way. This has enhanced both my professional and my personal life.

The Gaspe Coast being the land of my Acadian ancestors, I feel fortunate to live here and to be able to raise my children in such a beautiful country. Surrounded by superb mountains, renowned rivers and the forever changing Baie-des-Chaleurs, one never gets tired of looking at our magnificent landscapes. Depending on the weather, it's like living on a post card on a daily basis. I love the Gaspe!

 

Manjula Karunaratne

I have a BSc. Biology, CELTA (Cambridge) and I am currently finishing a B.A. I have been teaching for 9 years in the private sector and occasionally for the college and school board here in the Baie-des-Chaleurs. I have been fortunate to travel in Asia, Africa, New Zealand, North America and Europe several times. However, it's no exaggeration to say that I feel lucky to be living and raising my family in the Baie-des-Chaleurs.

I encourage everyone who has a curiosity for language, French Acadian culture and life between the mountains and sea to participate in the immersion. You will learn techniques in learning the French language that you can use when you work and travel in any French speaking country. Furthermore, I'm sure you will find something here that you will love. It could be the sailing, canoeing, kayaking and other water activities or it could be the hiking, mountain biking, salmon fishing or the cultural activities such as the museums, shows and theatre performances on the beach in Bonaventure and others in the Salle de Spectacles in New Richmond and Carleton. Come and experience in three weeks the best of the Baie-des-Chaleurs.
